I started my career as a production assistant at James Garrets and Partners during the birth of commercial television in South Africa. During my time there, I worked with directors Ridley Scott, Ashely Lazarus, Leslie Dektor and Peter Smillie. Finding a flair for organising the creative aspects of production, I switched from my technical beginnings to the creative management side of production, travelling worldwide to produce commercials.

I worked as part of the team that did the market research on the Launch of Levitra for GlaxoSmith Kline. Working closely with the creative team, I produced multiple test TV commercials, helped to lead focus groups, and then presented the research to the client. Over 15 different commercials were produced that were broadcast nationally, making Levitra a top-selling ED drug. I also worked on the launch of Clarinex for Shering Plough. All the commercials were produced in Australia to reduce the production cost. In addition, I produced commercials for the following clients: Claritin, Provigil, Crestor, Wells Fargo and Mobil.

Executive Producer — 1997-2000 Highway 61 Productions New York

As the Executive Producer of Highway 61 productions based in New York City, I directed a national sales team, drafting all of the budgets and supervising contracts and closings. As Executive Producer, I would take a creative idea and work in tandem with my client to resolve methods of getting an idea produced despite budgetary restrictions.The following is some of the work I produced at Highway 61: Hartford Financial Services Campaign for the 1998 Super bowl, directed by Peter Cherry; 1998 and 1999 Wells Fargo Campaigns directed by Bill Thompson; K-Mart - Garth Brooks, Shania Twain, Sammy Sosa; Nintendo; Baskin Robbins; Noxzema; Walmart; Honda; Cellular One; Montgomery Ward; Promise Margarine; Boulder Globe; Headhunter.net; Castle Lager; Toyota; Gardetto's; American Airlines and Tourism for New York State.

Producer — 1989 – Head of Production – Harmony Pictures Los Angeles

At Harmony Pictures, my job included research, estimating, cost analysis, cost control, hiring and supervision of freelance staff, contract and fee negotiation, client meetings and presentations, vendor relationships, assisting in sales, monitoring shoots, reviewing job actuals, insurance claims, union negotiations, and supervision of all post- production.

First Assistant Director — 1980 -1989

I worked as a first and second assistant director on many feature films, TV series and commercials.
